Turmeric

Product Description

Turmeric is a yellow color obtained from the rhizomes of turmeric. Its principal component is Turmerics. It is soluble in ethanol but insoluble in water. It exhibits a yellow shade at acidic and neutral pH and a reddish-brown at alkaline pH. Stable to heat but sensitive to light.

Characteristic

  • Yellow to Red crystalline powder, soluble in ethanol and glacial acetic acid,but insoluble in water and diethyl ether
  • It exhibits a yellow shade at acidic and neutral pH and a reddish-brown at alkaline pH, PH 7.8(yellow)~9.2(red brown)
  • Good stable to reducing agent, good staining(especially for protein)
  • Stable to heat but sensitive to light and iron ion

Application

A food additive used for coloring food, beverage, alcoholic drinks, pastry, jelly, and snacks. It also used for medical, animal feed and textile dyeing
