Carmine (also known as Cochineal Extract) is a natural red pigment derived from the female cochineal insect (Dactylopius coccus). The main coloring component is carminic acid.

Characteristic

• Red to dark red powder or liquid. Soluble in water and alkaline solutions.

• It exhibits excellent heat and light stability and is resistant to oxidation.

• Provides a range of shades from orange to red to purple depending on pH.
